Does Valium helps in anxiety problems?

Valium is a prescription used for the short-term relief of symptoms related to anxiety disorders.

Other names for Valium : Diazepam , Diastat. Valum it is a medicine in benzodiazepine family which also includes Alprazolam also better known under the name of Xanax, Lorazepam also known as Ativan , Klonopin or Clonazepam and Dalmane or Flurazepam.

Many specialist consider that psychiatric disorders and anxiety may be a result of the  excessive activity in the brain.

Benzodiazepines  enhance the effects of GABA in the brain. Gaba being a neurotransmitter that inhibits the brain activity.

Valium/Diazepam prescription it is used to treat disorders like anxiety; also to relieve muscle spasms and seizures. It is also used in acute alcohol withdrawal cases  and to provide sedation before medical procedures.

Pacients taking Valium should avoid alcohol consumption or other prescriptions that cause sedation.

Valium/Diazepam should not be used by women who are nursing because diazepam is excreted in the breast milk.

Known side effects for Valium/Diazepam are:Fatigue;Blurred vision;drowsiness, dizziness/headache/constipation.

Here are few of the known symptoms: Nausea/Irritability, muscles tension;difficulty in concentrating/trembling/sweating.
